WAG is a managed-intake, volunteer-based dog rescue dedicated to providing compassionate, individualized care for every dog that enters our program. Because we are entirely volunteer run, we intentionally focus on quality of care over quantity, ensuring each dog receives the time, attention, enrichment, medical support, and training they need to thrive while waiting for a home.
We also believe rescue starts before surrender. In addition to helping homeless dogs, we work proactively to keep dogs with the families who love them by offering support, resources, and assistance whenever possible. By helping owners navigate difficult situations before they reach a crisis point, we can reduce unnecessary surrenders and create better outcomes for both dogs and people.

WAG is a Non-Profit (501c3) Organization
supported completely by donations
and grants and staffed solely by
Volunteers.
Williston Animal Group (WAG) is a unique resource for dogs in our area, helping relieve the strain on overcrowded shelters while providing dogs with the time, care, and support they deserve. Through a safe and enriching environment, basic training, quality veterinary care, and individualized attention, our team focuses on healing each dog’s body, mind, and spirit. As a managed, limited-intake rescue, WAG is never in the heartbreaking position of having to euthanize for space.
At WAG, we believe successful placements happen when the right dog is matched with the right home. Our team takes the time to carefully get to know both our dogs and potential adopters to create the best possible fit — whether for a foster home, trial adoption, or forever family. The long-term well-being and happiness of our dogs always remain our top priority.
WAG is entirely volunteer-run, including our board members, who work kennel shifts alongside all other volunteers. Our volunteers, with help from Veterinarians and Trainers, work directly with the dogs every day, helping them become the best versions of themselves while learning their personalities, needs, and behaviors. That hands-on knowledge helps us create detailed biographies so adopters and fosters can make informed decisions and build lasting connections.
In addition to caring for homeless dogs, WAG also believes in helping dogs stay with the families who love them whenever possible. By offering guidance, resources, and support before situations reach a crisis point, we work proactively to reduce unnecessary surrenders and create better outcomes for both dogs and people.
